KCR appeals students to call off fast over Telangana issue
Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) president, K. Chandrasekhar Rao, tonight appealed to the students of Osmania and Kakatiya universities to call off their indefinite hunger strike over separate statehood.
"In the interest of your health, please call off your hunger strike. The ongoing agitation for a Telangana state is for your well-being only," Rao said.
Defying prohibitory orders imposed by the police, students of Osmania University in Hyderabad and Kakatiya University in Warangal yesterday launched an indefinite hunger strike in their respective institutions, demanding immediate creation of the Telangana state.
The various pro-Telangana organisations, including political parties, have extended their support to the students'stir.
Urging the students to end their fast immediately, Rao said, "We shall continue our uncompromising fight in a sharper manner to achieve the ultimate objective of statehood for Telangana".
