KASHMIR BACK TO SCHOOL
Amid curfews and renewed clashes betw-een the security forces and rock-throwing crowds at a few places, many schools in the Kashmir Valley reop-ened on Monday after being shut for over three months. Students and teachers were given a free passage by the security forces despite some restrictions still being in force. However,
attendance was thin following separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani’s “don’t go to sc-hool” diktat, issued to coun-ter the government’s res-olve to bring the educational system back on the rails.
