Mumbai,  May 8: Judge M.L. Tahiliyani was appointed principal judge of the civil and sessions court on Friday, two days after sentencing lone surviving 26/11 terrorist Ajmal Amir Kasab to death after India’s speediest terror case trial.

Mr Tahiliyani had conducted the trial as additional principal judge and on Friday took over the post of principal judge from Mr M.T. Joshi, who, in turn, took over as principal civil and sessions judge, Nanded. Court staff, lawyers and other judges welcomed Mr Tahiliyani as he went to the sessions court to take charge of his new assignment.
