Karunakaran's ashes immersed in Bharathapuzha

The ashes of veteran Congress leader and former chief minister K Karunakaran, who passed away last month, were immersed in theBharathapuzha river at Thirunavaya in the district this morning.

Mr Karunakaran's son K Muraleedharan, a former KPCC President, immersed the ashes at7.00AM, along with his sister Padmaja Venugopal and other family members.

The urns containing the ashes were brought in a procession from Mr Karunakaran's houseat Thrissur, accompanied by relatives and scores of Congressmen.

93-year-old Mr Karunakaran, a four-time chief minister of Kerala, had died on December 23, after a prolonged illness.
