Karnataka to release TN’s August share of Cauvery
Mysore: Chief minister Siddaramaiah offered Baagina (sacred offering made to the river goddess) to river Cauvery at Krishna Raja Sagar Dam, as the water level reached its optimum capacity of 124.80feet, here on Thursday.
Speaking to mediapersons Siddaramaiah said ,“With good rains this year all the reservoirs in the state have filled. With this, we have been able to release adequate water to Tamil Nadu and there have no inter state disputes related to Cauvery water this year. Farmers too are happy. We have also been able to produce a good quantum of hydro electricity. I have prayed to lord Varuna for the continued blessings for the State”.
The state was to ensure 44 tmcft reach at the Biligundlu by the end of July and another 50 tmcft by the end of August. However, 87 tmcft of water was already released to Tamil Nadu.
