Karnataka governor should be recalled: Venkaiah Naidu
Senior BJP leader Venkaiah Naidu on Sunday said that Karnataka governor H.R. Bharadwaj, who has sanctioned the prosecution of Karnataka chief minister Yeddyurappa over corruption charges, should be recalled immediately.
Saying that Mr Bharadwaj undermined democracy, Mr Naidu said that BJP would raise the issue vehemently in the Budget Session of the Parliament.
Also, BJP leaders will meet the President Pratibha Patil on Monday in this regard, Mr Naidu said.
Continuation of Mr Bharadwaj as governor would "damage relations between Centre and the state", he said, talking to reporters here.
The governor was acting only as Congress's agent, he alleged. "Mr Bharadwaj is acting and the Congress high command is directing the play against Karnataka chief minister," Mr Naidu said.
"The Centre wants to divert the attention from its failures and also its own involvement in the corruption," he added.
