Kapil Sibal fires salvo at ‘Fissile’ Left
Union HRD minister Kapil Sibal has found a new weapon to hit out at political opponents: poetry.
He takes a dig at the Left parties, suggesting they look beyond their nose, while his boss, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, is of course 'Doc Manmohan'.
In “Fissile Left”, Sibal suggests the Left “see beyond their nose” and “rework their ideology”.
It goes: For a lifetime now/ From an ailment/ They cannot diagnose;/ The symptom, however,/ That troubles them most/ Is that they/ Cannot just see/ Beyond their nose...
Sibal says events all around brought out the poet in him. Due to paucity of time, these were penned on his cellphone whenever he could snatch some moments.
Talking about My World Within, a compilation of 67 verses, the minister said: “It’s about the present... The world is going through changes, the global economy is depressing, there are terrorist attacks, and politics is in turbulence.” One poem is on the disturbed mindset of a terrorist. “I’ve written about what goes on in the mind”, he said.
“Prejudice”, which revolves around a member of a minority community, “could perhaps be in Gujarat”, he said.
Sibal hinted he could write prose next. “I can’t write blank verse. If I had to write blank verse, why wouldn’t I not write prose instead”?
