Kani confident of wiping taint
DMK MP Kanimozhi reiterated on Sunday she would prove her innocence and fight the 2G spectrum case with her party.
“We will face the [2G] case with the right approach and I am hopeful we will come out of it,” she told reporters at her CIT Colony residence.
The 43-year-old daughter of DMK patriarch M. Karunanidhi returned to Chennai on Saturday after spending six months in Tihar Jail for her alleged role in the 2G spectrum scam.
She said her 88-year-old father was “totally upset” at her incarceration.
The DMK MP said she was happy to be back in Chennai and meet all her supporters at one place.
On the grand welcome accorded to her, she said it “gave her resilience”.
Ms Kanimozhi was given a rousing reception by party cadres on Saturday.
Thousands had gathered at the airport to catch her glimpse.
Almost her entire family, including Mr Karunanidhi and brother Stalin, received Ms Kanimozhi, her husband Aravindan and son Aditya at the airport. Ms Kanimozhi was arrested by CBI on May 20 in connection with a `200-crore payment the DMK-run Kalaignar TV received from DB Group. She is a director of the TV channel.
After several denials by the trial and high courts and the Supreme Court, Ms Kanimozhi was finally granted bail by the Delhi high court on November 28.
