Chennai: Actor Kamal Haasan may be awaiting the fate of his movie Vishwaroopam with bated breath after Justice K. Venkatraman, Madras high court judge, viewed it at a special screening on Saturday at a preview theatre in Vadapalani. A HC order with regard to the matter of allowing the movie to be screened in the state is expected from the judge on Monday.
Political support gathered steam with DMK chief M. Karunanidhi calling for a dialogue between actor Kamal and protesting groups. “A solution should be found in a democratic and consultative manner”, he said in a statement. Mr Karunanidhi also stated that neither Kamal nor Rajini were capable of hurting the sentiments of any community in their movies.
PMK chief Dr Ramadoss came out in outright support of the movie being screened in the state. Film personalities also continued to sound their support for the star with director Bharathiraja strident in his demand that the film be released at once.
Raj Kamal Films, producers of the movie, had kept the venue of the special screening for the Madras HC judge confidential but media got wind of it even as about 50 people, including representatives of complainant Muslim groups and lawyers, viewed the film.
There was some good news from other states for the actor who is the main force behind the trilingual movie as Vishwaroopam was aired in theatres in Karnataka and its Telugu version saw the light on several screens in Andhra, including in the capital Hyderabad. Screening was, however, disrupted in certain parts of Karnataka with a theatre vandalised in Mysore by protesters.
Kamal fans continued to cross over to Kerala where the Tamil version is running to packed houses, especially in towns close to the border although screening was disrupted in some places in Ernakulam, Idukki and Palakkad districts.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.
