Kalyan promises 20% quota in jobs to women

Former UP chief minister Kalyan Singh on Wednesday released the manifesto of his Jan Kranti Party, promising 20 per cent reservation in government jobs to women.

Mr Singh told reporters that if his party was voted to power, it would ensure free education till the highest level for women and reservation for the backward, dalit and tribal women in the 33 per cent reservation envisaged for women in Assemblies and Parliament.
He said that his party was committed to providing a riot-free state and a corruption-free society. “Other parties are now shying away from the issues of criminalisation of politics and corruption but we will confront these issues head on when we come to power,” he said. The Jan Kranti Party manifesto, according to Mr Singh, is a positive action plan and not a reaction to what other parties are saying.
