Kalmadi might be moved from Tihar

While the former CWG Organising Committee (OC) chairman was given a separate cell in the crowded Tihar Jail Number 1 for security reasons, sources have now said that Mr Kalmadi is likely to be shifted to the Rohini Jail in a week. Reliable sources have pointed out that Mr Kalmadi has written to the jail officials for a shift from the Jail Number 1 due to security reasons.
The jail officials have also stated that since the Tihar prison is struggling for space, Mr Kalmadi, who is undergoing a judicial custody might be shifted to the Rohini jail. However, the jail officials have not ruled out the security reasons. “It is because of the security reasons, we had to take a decision to keep Kalmadi in a solitary confinement.”
Mr Kalmadi and two others, arrested on charges of cheating, conspiracy and corruption in the award of Games related contracts, were sent to 14 days’ judicial custody by a Delhi court on Wednesday.
According to a prison official, Mr Kalmadi along with the other two accused OC officials arrived in the prison at 8:00 pm.
