K’taka terror plot: 1 more arrested
The CCB sleuths on Sunday night finally caught up with one more person who has been on run after burst the terror cell in the city. Twenty-two-year-old Mohammad Akram, alias Khalid, was picked up from Majestic area.
The police, that has been on the lookout for Akram whose name figured in the interrogation, intercepted him at Majestic while he was trying to flee the city.
“He had been on the run since the arrest of the others and had even met the other accused. He is from Nanded in Maharashtra and is a driver by profession,” said city police commissioner B.G. Jyothiprakash Mirji.
From Akram, the CCB sleuths also recovered a 7.65 mm “Italian make” pistol.
“One foreign-made 7.65 mm pistol along with 16 cartridges and other incriminating articles have been recovered from his possession,” commissioner Mirji said. With this arrest, the number of those arrested in connection to the terror module now has reached 13. However, the police still anticipating more arrests.
In course of interrogation, it was found that even Akram has lived in Saudi Arabia for a year. “It is also learnt that he was taking shelter in Bangalore city for past several days and along with other arrested accused, he was hatching a conspiracy to execute target killings in Bangalore and elsewhere,” he said.
However, after the arrest of the other accused, he had gone into hiding and was trying to escape from the city when the police apprehended him. The interrogation of all the arrested is in progress and that is expected to give police more information. Akram, however, still to be produced before the court. For all the others, the police has got the custody for 14 days.
