K’taka: 11 BJP MLAs await cong nod to join
Once considered the “black sheep” in the BJP after they tried to topple the Karnataka government in 2009, the 11 BJP MLAs and five Independents are reportedly awaiting a nod from the Congress Party before jumping ship.
Sources said the MLAs have been hoodwinking the BJP claiming that they will remain loyal to the party. A top AICC source told this newspaper that all 16 MLAs had applied for a Congress ticket for the polls a long time ago. A senior Congress leader confided, “We are yet to make up our mind on whether to give tickets to Mr Balachnadra Jarkiholi and his team or not. The party has received a formal request from 16 MLAs.”
We are yet to take a decision as we suspect that they may be using this as an ruse to bargain hard with us as well as with the BJP. We need to assess these aspects carefully.”
