Justice Subhashan Reddy sowrn in as AP's Lok Ayukta
Justice B. Subhashan Reddy on Friday was sworn in as the Lokayukta of Andhra Pradesh.
Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan administered the oath of office to Justice Subhashan Reddy at a simple ceremony at the Raj Bhavan. Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy and other dignitaries were present on the occasion. New Lokayukta will serve on the post for a period of five years from now.
Justice Reddy earlier served as the chief justice of Madras and Kerala High Courts and he was also the Chairman of Andhra Pradesh State Human Rights Commission.
It may be mentioned that Justice Reddy's nomination was rejected by the Governor. However, the State Government sent the file again for his approval which was approved and on October 10 he was finally appointed as the State's Lokayukta.
The Lok Satta party has questioned his appointment stating that as per the law, a person who served the Human Rights Commission could not be appointed as the Lok Ayukta.
