Jundal confesses he taught terrorists
Zabiuddin Ansari, alias Abu Jundal, on Sunday recorded his confessional statement in the presence of additional chief metropolitan magistrate P.S. Rathod amidst tight security. Jundal had been given 48 hours by the court to rethink his decision to give a confession when he had first expressed it before the court.
According to crime branch sources, Jundal has confessed to having taught 10 terrorists Hindi for two months before they were sent to carry out the 26/11 terror raids. Jundal has allegedly also told his interrogators that along with the top LeT commanders, he too had seen off the 10 operatives from the Pakistan shore.
Jundal was brought from Arthur Road Jail and produced in Esplanade court at around 2.40 pm on Sunday. Interestingly, earlier on Sunday, the 23 accused of Saturday’s rioting were also produced before the same court. Jundal was brought to court in a high-security vehicle and was escorted by the Indo-Tibetan Border Police.
Jundal’s confession continued till 8.50 pm, following which he was taken back to jail. He will be produced before a court again on Monday as his judicial custody comes to an end. A source said his confessional statement was recorded entirely on Sunday, and on Monday he would be produced only in connection with his custody.
