Judicial custody of Raja Bhaiyya, 10 others extended
A local court on Friday extended the judicial custody of independent MLA Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya and ten others for 14 days in connection with a case of violence during the block pramukh elections in Uttar Pradesh.
The accused were presented before the CJM court, which extended the judicial custody of Raja Bhaiyya, SP leaders — MP Shailendra Kumar, MLA Vinod Saroj, MLC Akshay Pratap alias Gopalji — and seven others for 14 days after the prosecution sought more time to complete the probe in to the case.
The matter would be heard on January 27.
Raja Bhaiyya and his cousin MLC Gopalji, where they were shifted on December 26, were brought from Bareilly jail amidst tight security to appear before the court.
On December 19, all the 11 accused were arrested for allegedly threatening to kill BSP candidate Manoj Kumar Shukla during the Block Pramukh polls.
SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav had denounced the arrest of the four party leaders saying the ruling BSP was trying to terrorise its workers to win local bodies polls.
