Joshi to bounce back with party support
Once marginalised by his party, senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi appears to have bounced back with his party planning to make him its most visible face in the run-up to next year’s Assembly polls in Uttar Pradesh. The party has chalked out a comprehensive plan to shortly launch its “Mission UP” with putting on the fore front Dr Joshi’s exploits as the chairman of the PAC.
It was decided at a meeting of the core group, which took place on Wednesday, that the party will take the 2G spectrum allocation scam and other corruption cases to the people in the coming months. Informing this, Leader of the Opposition in Rajya Sabha, Arun Jaitley said, core group discussed the recent controversies over the PAC’s functioning and the attempts of the Congress and DMK members in the committee to “prevent” filing of a report on the 2-G spectrum allocation. It has also decided to target UP’s two major regional parties the SP and BSP, which came in the support of Congress-DMK combine in the last meeting of the PAC and would leave no stone unturned to project that the all three, the Congress, BSP and SP, are on the same page so far as the issue of corruption is concerned.
The BJP top brass felt the government had tried to manage the divisions in the committee over appearance of PMO officials before the PAC to depose on the 2-G spectrum issue by misusing the official machinery against the parties, whose senior leaders are facing corruption cases.
