J&K on high alert, awaits Pak reaction

Jammu and Kashmir was put on high alert on Monday with the police, paramilitary forces and Army troops in a state of alacrity to meet possible violent reaction to the killing of Osama bin Laden by the US forces in Pakistan.

Though heavy or otherwise presence of armed policemen and paramilitary personnel along the streets of Srinagar and other towns has been a regular scene ever since the militancy erupted in the state more than two decades ago, the officials admitted that the forces alerted their units against possible reaction to the killing of Bin Laden.
