The inquiry against the juvenile accused in the December 16 gangrape and murder of a 23-year-old paramedic concluded on Friday after the Juvenile Justice Board heard the final arguments. The board presided by principal magistrate Geetanjali Goel reserved its order for July 11. The inquiry against the juvenile had begun in March.
According to the police, out of all the six accused, the juvenile was “most brutal”.
The board reserved its order for July 11, saying the prosecution and defence could give any clarification they want to on that day, the police sources said.
The JJB also concluded its inquiry in the case against the juvenile pertaining to robbing Ramadhar, a carpenter who had boarded the bus on December 12, 2012 and was then thrown out before the girl and her friend were assaulted.
The juvenile, a native of Uttar Pradesh, had moved to Delhi as an 11-year-old and took up menial jobs. He is one of the six accused arrested in the case.
During the inquiry, the JJB recorded the statements of six prosecution witnesses, including the victim’s male friend and also the carpenter Ramadhar.
According to sources, the counsel for the juvenile had submitted before the board that there was no medical evidence against him to connect him with the charges and no fingerprints could be detected in the bus to prove his complicity.
