JD-U, BJP ticket aspirants throng Delhi
Amidst the ruling JD(U)-BJP combine engrossed in shortlisting candidates for Bihar Assembly elections, the ticket hopefuls have thronged Delhi in a big way to get stamp of approval from the top leadership of their respective parties.
The Bihar Niwas in Delhi has become a kind of camp for the ticket hopefuls, who are making all out attempts to get confirmation of them contesting the state elections.
In the case of the JD(U) state leaders they dashed to Delhi to meet chief minister Nitish Kumar away from his hectic schedules in the state when he came to the capital to hold talks with the BJP leaders and party chief Sharad Yadav.
The BJP leaders are also rushing in to the capital in anticipation of the final list of candidates being finalised by the central party leadership in the coming week.
A number of BJP state leaders are reported to have already reached the capital.
Among the JD(U) ticket hopefuls many were heard telling their confidante that the caste factor is being given the topmost priority in selection of candidates. “Though Mr Kumar keeps on saying that the electorates would rise above caste considerations to vote the ruling alliance to power again, the fact is that the JD(U) leadership is shortlisting candidates on the basis of caste equations,” rued a JD(U) Assembly ticket hopeful.
The Bihar BJP election committee is likely to finalise the list of prospective party candidates in its meeting on September 18 and 19 in Patna after which they would forward the list to the Central leadership to take a final call.
