Jaya hits out at Centre
Tamil Nadu chief minister J. Jayalalithaa on Friday alleged that the Centre was deliberately not allowing Tamil Nadu to thrive by not allocating sufficient funds.
“I feel very sad to say that the Centre is behaving as if Tamil Nadu should not prosper. But my government will continue to implement welfare schemes by overcoming all the impediments,” she declared.
Intervening during the speech of CPI(M) leader A. Soundararajan, who sought additional allocation for welfare measures, she said, “lack of funds” was the main obstacle for her government that wanted to dole out more welfare schemes.
“We have the heart and desire to do more for the people. In fact, I wish to do a hundred or thousand times more but financial constraints tie our hands,” she said.
Her government was taking extraordinary efforts to implement welfare schemes for the people, she said.
The CM’s outburst evoked instant support from all the parties, including the CPI(M), CPI, MMK and parties led by actor Sarathkumar, Dr Krishnasamy, C.K. Tamilarasan, P.V. Kathiravan and U. Thaniarasu.
