Jaswant: BJP is in my blood
Even after his unceremonious expulsion from the party, former senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh is finding it difficult to get over the reality, as he claimed that the saffron party is “in his blood”.
In an interview to a TV channel, Mr Singh said, “I spent 32 years (in the BJP). How can I get it out of my blood stream? But I do miss the (party) platform.”
The expelled leader’s comments have come at a time, when reports appeared that he had travelled to Jaipur with BJP parliamentary party chairman L.K. Advani in the same aircraft to attend funeral of former vice-president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat last week.
The senior leader’s confession of his missing the saffron party led to speculation that he may return to BJP fold after about seven months of his unceremonious exit.
The BJP, however, officially ruled out any such possibility, as party spokesperson Rajiv Pratap Rudy said, there was no such talk of Mr Singh’s return to the party.
“He had a very long innings with Bharatiya Janata Party. But as of now I am not aware of any such talks (for his return),” Mr Rudy said.
Mr Singh, who was seen as one of the tallest leader of the BJP along with former Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee, Mr Advani and former HRD minister Murli Manohar Joshi, was thrown out of the party after being called to a chintan baithak in Shimla last year.
