Jagan meets Sonia with his family
The much-anticipated meeting between Congress president Sonia Gandhi and the late Y.S.R. Reddy’s son Jaganmohan finally took place here in the capital on Tuesday. Mr Jaganmohan Reddy, who came along with his family — mother, wife and sister — refused to interact with the media after the meeting. He made a quiet exit through the second gate without anyone noticing it.
The meeting, which was sought from Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s side, was in connection with the yatra that he wishes to undertake in the coastal areas from July 8.
July 8 happens to be the birthday of the late Y.S.R. Reddy. He had expressed his wish to undertake the yatra to meet the families of those who took their lives in the aftermath of Y.S.R.’s death.
According to highly placed sources in the Congress, the meeting was very cordial. It was the mother who spoke with Mrs Gandhi, and it was she who actually explained the reasons for the yatra. She had apparently told Mrs Gandhi that there was nothing political in the proposed yatra. Mr Reddy’s mother had claimed that whenever a promise was made by anyone in her family, it was always kept, and that Jagan too has that commitment in his blood. Mrs Gandhi gave a patient hearing, according to sources.
Mr Jaganmohan Reddy’s sister translated in English to enable Mrs Gandhi to understand each and every word.
