Jagan to appear in court on June 11
The CBI court has taken cognisance of the third chargesheet filed by the CBI in the Jagan illegal assets case and has issued a prison transit warrant for the Kadapa MP to appear before it on June 11. It has also summoned the other accused named in the chargesheet.
The court on Wednesday registered the third chargesheet as a separate case (CC 10 of 2012). On Tuesday, the court had taken the second charge-sheet also as a separate case as the transactions were different.
On May 7, the CBI had filed the 88-page third chargesheet naming Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy, his auditor V. Vijay Sai Reddy, IAS officer and former vice-chairman of Vizag Ur-ban Development Authori-ty G. Venkat Ram Reddy, Ramky Group chairman Ayodhya Rami Reddy, Ja-gathi Publications and Ramky Pharma India Lim-ited as accused in the case.
The CBI had alleged that Ramky had invested Rs10 crore in Jagathi Publica-tions as a quid pro quo for the benefits it secured from the government headed by Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy’s father, the late YSR.
The second chargesheet dealt with the investments made by industrialists A.K. Dandamudi and Madhav Ramachandran in Jagathi Publications. The charge-sheet alleged that Mr Jagan Mohan Reddy and Mr Vijay Sai Reddy had falsified the company’s valuation report to get investments.
The two industrialists had invested around Rs35 crore out of a total of Rs1,246 crore, in the firms.
In the first chargesheet, the CBI had accused the Kadapa MP of actively prevailing upon his father to commit offences under the Prevention of Corruption Act. YSR, in turn, prevai-led over IAS official B.P. Acharya and APIIC official Y.V.L. Prasad to allot lands to Aurobindo, Hetero and Trident Life Sciences, it said.
