J’khand poll probe: CBI conducts raids

Speeding up its probe into alleged vote-buying efforts during Jharkhand’s countermanded Rajya Sabha polls of March 30, the CBI on Saturday raided several properties belonging to Independent candidate and industrialist R.K. Agarwal, his relatives and three MLAs.
Even as hectic political activities were on for fresh polls for Jharkhand’s two vacant RS seats, slated for May 3, CBI officials conducted searches in capital Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Palamu, Jamtara and Deoghar.
The houses of three MLAs — K. N. Tripathi (Congress) at Palamau, RJD’s Suresh Paswan at Deogarh and BJP’s Vishnu Bhaiyya at Jam-tara — were searched by the CBI. `4 lakh in cash and “incriminating documents” were seized on the premises of Vishnu Bhaiyya, said sources.
CBI sleuths conducted searches at Mr Agarwal’s premises in Ranchi and those belonging to his relative, Mr Raj Kumar Shah, owner of Shah Sponge and Power Ltd.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
