J’khand poll probe: CBI conducts raids
Speeding up its probe into alleged vote-buying efforts during Jharkhand’s countermanded Rajya Sabha polls of March 30, the CBI on Saturday raided several properties belonging to Independent candidate and industrialist R.K. Agarwal, his relatives and three MLAs.
Even as hectic political activities were on for fresh polls for Jharkhand’s two vacant RS seats, slated for May 3, CBI officials conducted searches in capital Ranchi, Jamshedpur, Chaibasa, Palamu, Jamtara and Deoghar.
The houses of three MLAs — K. N. Tripathi (Congress) at Palamau, RJD’s Suresh Paswan at Deogarh and BJP’s Vishnu Bhaiyya at Jam-tara — were searched by the CBI. `4 lakh in cash and “incriminating documents” were seized on the premises of Vishnu Bhaiyya, said sources.
CBI sleuths conducted searches at Mr Agarwal’s premises in Ranchi and those belonging to his relative, Mr Raj Kumar Shah, owner of Shah Sponge and Power Ltd.

Indian student from orissa killed in Boston
New York, April 21: A 24-year-old student from Orissa pursuing a management degree at Boston University was shot and killed near his campus by an unidentified assailant.
The student, identified as K. Seshadri Rao, was shot in the head and leg in the early hours of April 19.
The young man, a native of Orissa, was a student at the university’s Graduate School of Management. The University’s Faceb-ook page was flooded with messages of condolencesfor Rao with students expr-essing concern over security on the campus.
