IT student hangs self in hostel room

A 20-year-old IT graduate student of RNS Institute of Technology hanged himself in his hostel room on Saturday morning.

Rahul from Bagalkot district was a first-year student at the college, located in Channasandra on Uttarahalli Road. He waited till his roommates left the hostel around 8.30 am and hanged himself from the ceiling fan. The police said Rahul had not left behind a note, and it was difficult to ascertain the reason behind his suicide.

“The college authorities told us that Rahul was a brilliant student and had 100 percent attendance. We believe he was under some kind of depression,” the police added.

After the postmortem at Victoria Hospital, the body was handed over to the family. A case of unnatural death has been registered with the Kengeri police.
