Isolation compelled Yeddy to quit
The fear that he did not have enough MLAs who could back him and the possibility of a court battle that could isolate him in state politics might have forced Mr Yeddyurappa to climb down from his earlier stand of dissolving the Ass-embly. According to sour-ces in BJP, at present Mr Yeddyurappa has 35 supporters in his side including nine ministers.
Those who were present including Appa Saheb Pattanshetti, M. Sathis Reddy, D.N. Jeevaraja, S. Shivanna, Valmiki Nayak, Es.En. Krishnaiaha Shetti, J. Nara-simha Swamy, B.P. Harish, S.R. Vishwanath, Aihole Duryodhana Mahal-ingappa, Pralhad Rehmani, Vittal Dondiba, Prabhu Chavahan, Doddappagowda Patil Naribol, Y Sampangi, Basavaraj Nayak, Beluru Gopalakrishna, K. Laxminarayan, Ramanna S Lamani, Suresh Gowda and Varthur Prakash, independent MLA. The Ministers are M.P. Renukacharaya, C.M. Udasi, Umesh Katti, Basa-varaj Bommai, C.C. Patil, Murguesh Nirani and Revu Nayak Belamagi. With the high command deciding to go ahead with the selection of the new leader on Friday, the putative revolt ended in a whimper. Mr Yeddyurappa seems to be worried about getting isolated when he starts his legal battle against the mining charges.
