ISI will open new fronts on LoC: Tunda
Top Lashkar-e-Tayyaba operative Abdul Karim Tunda, in a startling disclosure during custodial interrogation, has told a joint team of the Intelligence Bureau and the Delhi police special cell that Pakistan Army commandos had indeed been training militants of both the Lashkar and the Jaish-e-Mohammed at camps in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir so that they could be inducted into the “border area teams” of the Pakistan Army.
These teams have been responsible for killing Indian soldiers on the Line of Control in the past few months. Tunda also said Hafiz Saeed, with whom he had an excellent equation, told him at a meeting of top Lashkar operatives that there were plans to open “several new fronts” along the Indo-Pakistan border to attack Indian soldiers. For this, he added, the Pakistan Army’s Special Services Group commandos were even training their cadre in the use of heavy artillery. Tunda also admitted that he had links with former Inter-Services Intelligence chief Hamid Gul, who is also known to be close to Hafiz Saeed and has indeed shared a dais with him on many occasions.
