ISB grads get Rs 1 lakh higher pay
Hyderabad: Kicking off the placements for this year, the Indian School of Business saw the average pay of its graduates touch Rs 18 lakh per annum, Rs 1 lakh increase from the previous year.
Meanwhile, the institute saw a 27 per cent increase in the number of offers this year. “The average salary might go up once the recruitment process completes in May,” said a source.
Of the total 762 graduates in the class of 2013, about 741 opted for placements offered by 412 companies who made 798 offers.
According to Deepak Chandra, deputy dean of ISB, the placements for the Post Graduate Progr-amme in Management (PGP) were the institute’s first integrated recruitment drive held across its Hyderabad and Mohali campuses.
“The integrated approach has proved to be a successful model by attracting the highest number of recruiters who have made the largest number of offers that we have ever received,” Mr Chandra said.
Meanwhile, girls also grabbed key roles in companies such as director, chief strategy officers to vice-presidents and regional managers. Another highlight of this year was the ‘Axis Bank – ISB Leadership Programme’, where 12 students were chosen to build a women leadership pipeline for their organisation.
This year too, about 53 technology companies like Apple, Facebook, Cognizant, Google, HP, Microsoft, etc have showered 300 offers on the students while the consulting sector contributed to about 163 offers. A renewed interest in hiring came from the BFSI sector which made about 75 offers while pharma, healthcare and biotech sectors contributed 58 offers.
Amid the recruitment brouhaha, about 27 per cent of the ISB graduates chose consulting-related jobs while 21 per cent opted for sales and marketing offers from Arvind Lifestyle Brands & Retail, Bharti Walmart, Britannia Industries and others.
