IRCTC project hits a roadblock
Lack of manpower and inadequate technical support have delayed the launch of an IRCTC project aimed at wooing corporate air passengers.
IRCTC, which launched the sale of individual air tickets through its web portal over a year back, proposed to launch this project from its regional headquarters in Chennai targeting corporate air passengers.
As per the project, which ought to have been operational by now, IRCTC would tie up with corporate firms and organise their travel arrangements, apparently, vying with private agencies in not only making a foray in to the air tourism market but also widen its operation base.
However, the project had hit a definite roadblock after the IRCTC top brass in New Delhi failed to resource requisite manpower and technical support.
Not even half a dozen officials are available to execute the project at Chennai. IRCTC officials complained that they do not even have technical support or equipment to ascertain the way ahead for the project to become operational.
The project failed miserably and it has not progressed from planning stage, officials pointed out expressing their inability to even furnish information pertaining to the project, for want of resources, particularly database.
While the project remains a non-starter, the corporate office in New Delhi that addresses needs of individual air passengers has been doing a good job in individual passenger section.
