IPS OFFICERS to GOVT: BAN FEET-TOUCHING
Senior IPS officers in Uttar Pradesh want a strict ban on officers in uniform touching the feet of politicians, after all leading news channels flashed shots of Etah SSP Ajay Mohan Sharma bowing down to touch the feet of SP MP Ram Gopal Yadav.
Though home secretary J.P. Gupta denied that the SSP was actually touching the feet of the SP leader, he claimed that the police officer was merely clearly the way for the SP MP. The issue has now snowballed into a major controversy with the Opposition parties demanding action against the officer.
ADG Arun Kumar also admitted that officials in uniform should refrain from such acts in future.
Senior IPS officers now want a specific order from the government which will prevent such acts in future.
“If one or two officers go down on their knees, politicians obviously expect others to behave in a similar manner.”

Stock guru scam: cbi to quiz three i-t officials
Pramod Kumar
New Delhi, Jan. 26
The CBI, which recently carried out searches at office and residence of an income-tax deputy director after registering a case against him for allegedly taking bribe running into crores during the department’s probe into the `500-crore Stock Guru scam, is likely to question three more officials of the I-T department in connection with the case. The CBI is also preparing to take assistance of the Delhi police in this connection.
The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) of Delhi Police had investigated `500 crore Stock Guru scam.
The agency on January 14 had registered a case against Yogendra Mittal, an IRS officer of 2006 batch, for allegedly accepting bribes running into several crores of rupees during the income-tax department’s probe into the Stock Guru scam. The agency sleuths had also carried out searches at official and residential premises of the accused official in Ghaziabad on January 14.
Probe by the agency revealed that Mr Mittal had conducted search operations at various locations in connection with Stock Guru scam during January 2011 but they were allegedly not genuine.
“When the income-tax department was investigating the role of Stock guru scam mastermind Ulhas Prabhakar Khaire, they did not conduct the raids at his place with full integrity”, sources said.
