IOB chairman tells grads to seek new turf
Mr M. Narendra, chairman and managing director, Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) exhorted students not to be satisfied with the routine things in life and explore the unexplored territories to make life meaningful.
Delivering his convocation address at 13th graduation day at R.M.K engineering college in the outskirts of the city on Sunday, Mr Narendra advised graduates not to stop learning all through their lives. He appreciated the college for their excellence in academics and placements.
In his presidential address, R.S. Munirathinam, founder and chairman, R.M.K. group of institutions pointed out that at present RMK graduates stand high in placements. He also expressed the wish that an alumnus of his institution would be the chief guest at future functions. Mr Munirathinam elaborated on the milestones and achievements of the college.
“Our college has excellent infrastructure, laboratories and computing facilities, proper mix of experienced senior faculty and enthusiastic young faculty and a conducive environment for academic, research and consultancy work”, he added.
Mr Narendra gave away degree certificates to 862 graduates and cash awards to university rank holders worth `19.70 lakhs. The college bagged 61 university ranks, of whom three students bagged gold medals. The college secured overall pass percentage of 92.74 per cent in under graduate and 95.14 in postgraduate in the recent university examination.
Mr R.M. Kishore, vice-chairman, R.M.K. group of institutions and Mr Yalamanchi Pradeep, secretary of group had a word of appreciation for the university rank holders and achievers.
