Inspector kills girl, injures mother

A girl was shot dead and her mother seriously injured allegedly by an inspector of Indian Reserve Battalion (IRB) at Paglek in Arunachal Pradesh, police said today.

Following an altercation, IRB insspector Toko Doni fired at Rita Dorjee (21) and her mother Rupa Dorjee (41) in their house last night, East Siang district SP Alok Kumar said quoting preliminary inquiry report.

While Rita died on the spot, her mother sustained injuries on her face and was referred to Dibrugarh in Assam, Kumar said.

A search is on to trace absconding Doni.
