Inquiry ordered into death of undertrial in UP
A magisterial inquiry has been ordered into the death of an under trial in Muzaffarnagar district.
The undertrial, Amit Kumar, had complained of severe stomach ache and was taken to the district hospital in a critical condition on Friday. He was shifted to the Meerut medical college where he died during treatment.
The police spokesman said that Amit Kumar had been arrested five months ago in nearby Shamli district on attempt to murder charges.
The deceased’s family members have alleged that Amit did not get timely treatment which led to his death.

‘Education to better 2015-16’

Union HRD minister Dr M.M. Pallam Raju on Saturday stated that government’s plan to provide quality secondary education through model schools in Public Private Partnership mode will become operational from academic session 2015-16.
“From 2015-16 we will have these schools because we need time for construction of building,” he said after a meeting with stakeholders and Planning Commission officials.
The ministry along with Planning Commission officials finalised the model concessional agreement (MCA) to set up 2,500 model schools under PPP mode.
Commission’s deputy chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia informed that the MCA would now be placed before the inter-ministerial committee headed by secretary education on July 31 for approval.

Anna for India Day parade

Social activist Anna Hazare is set to take his anti-corruption movement to the home of Uncle Sam. Following numerous requests from Indians settled in the US, Mr Hazare will visit the US to participate in the annual India Day parade that is held in New York by the Indian diaspora.
Mr Hazare has been invited by the Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) to preside over the event as a guest of honour and is also expected to attend a dinner organised by Indian-American politicians.
Bishambar Choudhary, a close aide and activist, confirmed the visit.

Bhatt crew, cops in spat

Udaipur collectorate office on Saturday witnessed a noisy scene when film star and producer Pooja Bhatt’s crew engaged in a war of words with police officials, including SP Udaipur Hariparsad Sharma. The actress herself reached the spot and intervened.
There has been heated arguments between Mr Sharma and Pooja Bhatt.
According to sources, the incident occurred when her team members were busy with shooting at the collectorate premises and the SP was on his way to office along with two police officials.
The sources said the SP was in plain clothes.
