Inflation up, sharp fall in exports, IIP
Various crucial economic data — exports, industrial production, inflation and car sales — released on Friday sent a worrying signal that the Indian economy is in slowdown mode. IIP in May contracted by 1.6 per cent, the lowest in the past 11 months.
The data released by the commerce ministry showed India’s exports contracted by 4.6 per cent in June for the second consecutive month. The retail inflation inched up to 9.87 per cent in June due to rise in vegetable and fruit prices.
