Indian Mujahideen involved in Delhi blast
Investigations into the recent busting of an Indian Mujahideen module has provided a significant lead to investigating agencies in the September 7, Delhi high court blast that killed 11 persons and injured several others.
It has been learnt that there was indeed a local logistical support for the blast and it was provided by a module of the IM.
This revelation goes on to prove that the terror outfit had managed to regroup quickly in the national capital despite the severe reverses it suffered in wake of the 2008 Batla House encounter in which its top north India leadership was wiped out.
Interestingly, highly-placed intelligence sources claim that the module that provided the logistical support for the Delhi high court blast was different from the one smashed recently.
Sources admitted this also proves that top commanders of the IM were being extremely secretive about their functioning and not divulging details of one module to the other.
“Even the six operatives of the IM arrested recently have revealed that the outfit had become extremely secretive about its functioning now. They claimed only Ahmad Siddi Bappa, alias Shahrukh, has information about different IM modules operating in the country at present,” an intelligence official said.
Sources also claimed that the Union home ministry has directed all agencies involved in the investigations to remain extremely tight-lipped about the new revelation about the Delhi module as the high court case is being probed by the National Investigation Agency.
The NIA probe so far, has been revolving around the possible involvement of the Hizbul Mujahideen in the blast with no information about local support.
Clearly, the home ministry wants to avoid any embarrassment at this crucial juncture and does not want various agencies talking at variance about the investigations. “There is information and evidence to suggest that the executors of the high court blast had local support. It seems the Delhi module was also being handled by Shahrukh only,” an official said.
Shahrukh had managed to build a hideout in Mirpur area of Nangloi where he had stayed several times during his various trips to Delhi.
But investigating agencies suspect that apart from the Nangloi hideout there was another module operating out of another location here. He, police believe, financed and coordinated the terror module.
