India protests inaccuracies in U.S. map
India has objected to the “gross inaccuracies” in the Indian map on the website of the United States State Department with regard to Jammu and Kashmir.
It has said that it will remind the US government once again about the incorrect depiction of India’s borders on maps used by it.
In a statement issued here on Wednesday night, the ministry of external affairs spokesperson, Mr Syed Akbaruddin, said: “The government has consistently rejected incorrect depiction of India’s borders on maps used by the US government. It has used every opportunity to convey to the US side its concern in this regard, and has asked that these maps be corrected. We shall reiterate our position to the US.”
The United States State Department has a map of India wherein the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir is shown in dotted lines, thereby indicating that it’s a disputed territory.
The MEA spokesperson further added: “The government takes this opportunity to reaffirm that the entire state of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and has consistently conveyed to the international community that maps of India should depict the boundaries of our country correctly.”
