India, pak meet on Dec. 26-27 over nuke CBMs
Pakistan and India will meet in Islamabad on December 26-27 for talks on nuclear and conventional confidence building measures, officials said.
“The meeting will take place and the nuclear issue and the confidence building measures will be discussed separately,” an official at the foreign office said.
“In the talks, Pakistan’s side will be led by our additional secretary,” another official added.
These expert-level talks are being held after four years. The last expert-level nuclear CBM meeting had taken place on October 14, 2007. In July this year, the two foreign ministers had agreed in New Delhi that these talks will be held but it is not clear why they had been delayed.

Kingfisher, SpiceJet plane in ‘near-miss’
Chennai, Dec. 21: A major mishap was averted at the airport here when a Kingfisher aircraft was stopped from taking off by an alert air traffic control just when a SpiceJet plane was landing late on Monday night, airport sources said on Wednesday. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation has launched an inquiry into the incident, as Kingfisher officials said two pilots of the Chennai-Coimbatore flight have been taken off duty for an internal probe. It was not clear how many passengers were on board the two planes. While the SpiceJet flight coming in from Hyderabad was cleared for landing at around 8.40 pm, the Kingfisher aircraft allegedly rolled off the taxi track on to the main runway, poised to begin its take-off, the sources said.
