Indefinite curfew continues in Kashmir
As political leaders gathered in the national capital for a crucial all-party meeting to discuss the situation in Jammu and Kashmir, life continued to be at a standstill across the Valley on Wednesday with indefinite curfew in force in all major towns.
Curfew continued in towns such as Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Kangan, Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian, Pampore and Bandipora, the police said, adding that 12 security personnel and 13 others had been injured in different stone-pelting incidents on Tuesday.
Protesters attempted to set ablaze a revenue office in Sopore town on Tuesday night and the office of the municipal committee in northern Handwara town but were stopped by the police, officials said.
The Valley has been under curfew since 18 people were killed in unprecedented violence on Monday, taking the toll of people who have died in the ongoing unrest to 88.
