Implement SP manifesto: CM
UP chief minister Akhilesh Yadav has written a letter to all his ministerial colleagues asking them to implement all the promises that the Samajwadi Party has made in its manifesto.
The chief minister, who completed one month in office on Sunday, has underlined the need to provide a corruption-free government to the people.
“We need to live up to the aspirations of the people by ensuring all-round development in the state which has lagged behind on this issue in the past years. The people must feel the change that has been ushered in with our government,” he said in the letter.
The letter assumes significance since this is the chief minister’s first missive to his ministerial colleagues, most of whom happen to be his senior in age as well as experience.
The chief minister has further asked his colleagues to beware of elements that may try to malign the image of the government. “We have to thwart all such attempts and ensure that harmony is not disturbed. We also have to make sure that our party workers remain disciplined and we must make them realise that the image of the government is most important,” he said.
It may be recalled that some ministers of the Akhilesh Yadav government have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. State minister Mehboob Ali and Chittaranjan Swarup made news when their supporters fired in the air and threw currency notes to celebrate their success.
Senior SP minister Mohammed Azam Khan got ample media attention for his caustic statements against Shahi Imam Syed Ahmad Bukhari and, more recently, Mr Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiyya has been in the news for his alleged involvement in the foodgrain scam.
