IB to give video of Pak ‘spy’ to police

The Intelligence Bureau is likely to handover several video footages of the alleged Pakistan “spy” Javed Abdul Gafoor Moojiwala (28) that they shot during his visits to the Pakistan high commission (PHC) in New Delhi, to the crime branch. The videos will help the crime branch trace all the people Moojiwala was in touch with.
Moojiwala, a resident of Mazgaon and a visa facilitation agent was arrested from his residence on December 10 under relevant sections of the Official Secrets Act. He allegedly carried out anti-national operations and also took instructions from two officials of the PHC.
“Moojiwala had made numerous visits to the PHC in New Delhi and was under the scanner of the IB for the last two months. His arrest came only after the IB tipped-off the crime branch about him. The IB had been monitoring Moojiwala’s phone records and movements,” said a source.
The IB officials, while keeping a watch on Moojiwala have recorded videos of his visits to the PHC, the source said, adding that there are footages of him meeting people outside the PHC as well.
“The crime branch is trying to get information about his accomplices, who could also be part of the module and hired by the two PHC officials. With the help of footages, we will be able to trace the people whom Moojiwala met and learn of his connections with them,” the source said.
However, the police said that he could have met several people regarding his visa business as well.
“Moojiwala facilitated visas for people wanting to go to Pakistan. So many of those whom he must have met could well be in the business of visa processing. But the tapes will have to be seen closely to look for anything suspicious,” he said.
Meanwhile, the crime branch investigators are taking Moojiwala to all the places where he had conducted a reconnaissance.
“Moojiwala had clicked pictures related to the security apparatus and the breach points, where if a bomb is placed can cause the highest casualty. We are now taking him around to learn more about his reconnaissance,” said a crime branch source.
