IAS officer's wife arrested for assaulting police inspector
The wife of an IAS officer was on Monday arrested for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing a woman police inspector during the Celebrity Cricket League (CCL) T20 match here.
Anu Dubey, wife of Pankaj Kumar Pandey, managing director of Hubli Electricity Supply Company, was granted interim bail till Feb 6 after being produced before a local court on Monday night.
Earlier in the day, a criminal case has been filed against her under Section 353 of the Indian Penal Code for allegedly assaulting and verbally abusing Inspector Anjumala T Naik, attached to Ulsoorgate women's police station, police sources said.
As per the complaint filed by Anjumala, who was posted at Gate No 1 of Chinnaswamy stadium on security duty during the match on Monday, Anu and her son abused her (Anjumala) for not allowing entry to watch the match as they carried only one entry pass, police sources said.
However, the accused managed to gain entry into the stadium after the intervention of some contacts in the Karnataka State Cricket Association, they said.
Anjumala, in her complaint, alleged that the IAS officer's wife picked up an argument and assaulted her after the match came to a close, the sources said.
The accused had also passed derogatory remarks against the entire Karnataka police, the complaint said.
