Hillary In india for may 7-8 talks
As India and the US seek to boost their strategic ties, US secretary of state Hillary Clinton will be in the capital for two days early next month for talks with external affairs S.M. Krishna and other senior government officials. She will also call on Prime Minister Manmohan Singh while in New Delhi.
Ms Clinton will be stopping in India on her way back from visits to China and Bangladesh as the US attempts to forge closer relations with countries in South Asia. She will be in India on May 7 and 8, external affairs ministry spokesperson Syed Akbaruddin tweeted on Thursday evening.
US state department spokesperson Victoria Nuland told reporters in Washington that Ms Clinton will be stopping in India after her May 5 visit to Bangladesh, her first visit to Bangladesh as secretary of state. Ms Nuland said Ms Clinton will be in India “to review progress in the strategic partnership”.
