High Court green signal for commercial complex at Malleswaram market
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court on Friday gave the green signal to the BBMP to go ahead with the construction of a seven-storeyed commercial complex at the historic Malleswaram market. The court vacated an earlier stay order against the construction after the BBMP submitted a written statement that the traders would be relocated till the commercial complex is completed.
The BDA too has reportedly submitted a plan for the construction multi-storeyed commercial complexes at old markets in K.R. Puram, Seshadripuram and Malleswaram. The palike stated that once the construction is complete, the traders will be shifted back to the newly constructed complex after the traders satisfy certain palike norms.
The court had earlier restrained the palike from displacing the traders. The palike officials recently took up the first round of demolition of the 50-year-old Malleswaram market. The property, earlier belonging to the palike, was transferred to BDA to build the commercial complex.
