Hegde: no need for showcause to those named

Responding to Advocate-General B.V. Acharya’s comments that the former Lokayukta, Justice Santosh Hegde, did not follow the principles of “natural justice” while indicting officers and elected representatives in his second mining

report, Justice Hegde said that under the provisions of Section 7(2-A) of the Karnataka Lokayukta Act there is no need to issue showcause notices to the persons named in the report because they would be given the opportunity to defend themselves at the time of the implementation of the report following principles of natural justice.
