HC orders CBI probe in Sachan death
The Lucknow bench of the Allahabad high court, on Thursday, ordered a CBI inquiry into the alleged murder of deputy CMO Y.S. Sachan who had been found dead in mysterious circumstances inside Lucknow jail on June 22.
The court order comes a day after UP chief minister Mayawati had recommended a CBI probe into this high profile case. The court order now makes it mandatory for the CBI to take up investigations in the case.
The court order came on a PIL filed by a local journalist seeking a CBI probe after the state government, which insisted it was a case of suicide, had turned down the request for the same. The PIL was heard on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, another PIL filed by the Congress seeking a CBI inquiry into the embezzlement of funds under NHRM and family welfare schemes and also the murders of two CMOs, is likely to be taken up for hearing next week.
“We will now cite this order and pray to the court to club all cases and order a CBI inquiry into the financial irregularities in the health funds that apparently led to the murders of two CMOs and one deputy CMO,” UPCC president Rita Bahuguna Joshi said.
