HC extends stay on Padmaraj Commission
Karnataka high court on Friday extended by four weeks the stay on the functioning of the one-man commission of inquiry appointed to probe alleged land scams.
A Division Bench comprising chief J.S. Khehar and Justice A.S. Bopanna issued notice to the B. Padmaraj commission to file its objections within three weeks.
The bench ordered the commission not to record any evidence or submit any report to the government on the issue till it gives its verdict.
The bench was hearing a petition filed by JDS leader Y.S.V. Datta, who had sought a direction that only Lokayukta should investigate into the allegations of irregularities in the allotment and denotification of land by Karnataka industrial area development board and Bangalore development authority.
