Hazare plans to restructure team

Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare on Monday gave clear indications that he was all set to restructure his core committee. He said he planned to include youth, dalits, religious minorities and tribals in the new team.

Mr Hazare, while discussing his new team in Ralegan Siddhi said, “Nobody should complain that they were not given chance. We will include Muslims, adivasis and dalits in the committee.”
Speaking about the necessity to make these modifications, Mr Hazare said, “Youth will be given prominence in the new team. Youth power is extremely important and hence the changes are going to be made in the team.”
Criticising the UPA government, Mr Hazare alleged that those who feared the induction of the Jan Lokpal Bill were targeting his key team members who were pressing for a strong bill. “Some fear that if a strong Lokpal bill is introduced, it will jeopardise their political career,” said Mr Hazare, adding that the government should prove if there have been any wrongdoings by his key team members.
Mr Hazare went on to add that the decision to revamp his team has also been taken after some sectors of society alleged that they were not included.
“The first team was formed for two-and-a-half months but the new team is going to be formed for a longer time frame,” said Mr Hazare.
In the previous week, Mr Hazare had declared that team will be revamped and a constitution will be formed for its anti-graft body and any member found involved in wrongdoings will be dealt with as per the constitution.
Key members in the team have faced allegations of financial misconduct. There were allegations that Kiran Bedi charged her hosts full fare on air tickets while availing discounts. The income-tax department had asked Arvind Kejriwal to pay back the dues of nearly `9 lakhs that the government slammed on him for breaking a bond during the time of his resignation from the Indian Revenue Services.

I want to begin with a little story that was told to me by a leading executive at Aptech. He was exercising in a gym with a lot of younger people.

Shekhar Kapur’s Bandit Queen didn’t make the cut. Neither did Shaji Karun’s Piravi, which bagged 31 international awards.
