Haryana says IAS transfer as per high court direction
The Haryana government clarified on Tuesday that the recent transfer of IAS officer Ashok Khemka was carried out in compliance with the directions of the Punjab and Haryana high court.
A state government spokesman said here the matter regarding considering the request of Mr Khemka to relieve him of charge as special collector, which is traditionally held by the director, consolidation, came up during the hearing before the high court. The HC had ordered on October 1, 2012, that a decision must be taken at the earliest to either give charge to an officer who could competently exercise the powers of a special collector, or to appoint somebody but not in any officiating or temporary capacity.
The government is expected to take a decision at the earliest. Since the charge of special collector has been traditionally held by the director, consolidation, the state government ordered the transfer of Mr Khemka to ensure that the work of the department did not suffer. There are no other grounds for his transfer.
