Haryana to help firms get carbon credit
The Haryana government will assist industrial units in the state garner carbon credits via a new centralised cell that will advise entrepreneurs on optimal technologies.
The venture is modelled on a highly successful pilot project for the Japanese consortium assisted development of eco-cities at selected brown-field locations within the Manesar-Balwal investment region of the Delhi-Mumbai Indu-strial Corridor. According to the state government spokesman, the carbon credit cell has been envisaged as part of Haryana’s 2011 Industrial Policy.

Accused in scribe murder surrenders

Jan. 2: The Ganjbasoda district unit general secretary of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party Narendra Singh Raghuvanshi, alias Gudda Raghuvanshi, the main accused in the brutal murder of a local journalist Sanjiv Jain, surrendered at the Ganjbasoda police station in Vidisha district on Sunday evening. Raghuivanshi’s surrender came after a marathon protest by local citizens who even surrounded the Ganjbasoda police station earlier during the day demanding immediate arrest of the main culprit. The police arrested Guddu Banjara, said to be an alleged accomplice of Gudda Raghuvanshi.

JD-U MP to Bihar HRD:Stem graft
Patna, Jan. 2: In an embarrassment to the ruling JD(U), party MP Shivanand Tiwari on Sunday alleged “corruption” in Bihar’s higher education department and asked human resources development minister P.K. Sahi to take effective steps to check it.
“Corruption is rampant in the state’s higher education... It should be checked and Sahi should take immediate effective steps for the purpose,” Mr Tiwari, in a letter to the minister, said.
